Zimbabwe companies set to showcase at Fruit Logistica Trade Fair in Germany

By Renwick Wachenyuka

Zimbabwean companies will be showcasing fresh fruit and vegetables at the upcoming Fruit Logistica trade fair scheduled to take place from 7-9 February 2024 in Berlin, Germany.

Preparations are at an advanced stage for ten local companies to exhibit at the Zimbabwe pavilion with a delegation of over fifty businesspeople set to attend the event for B2B meetings and network.

The participation of Zimbabwean companies is a follow-up to last year’s participation where orders worth US$5 million were confirmed at the event.

Speaking on this trade fair, ZimTrade Chief Operating Officer, Mr Allan Majuru said ‘The high interest expressed by farmers in this event is a testimony to the success of the Horticulture Recovery and Development Plan which has resulted in more and more people invest in horticulture production for export. ZimTrade is confident that the quality of Zimbabwean produce and its unique taste will be able to attract buyers and off-takers for farmers in Zimbabwe’

Fruit Logistica is more than just a trade fair; it is the world’s most important trade fair for fresh fruit and vegetables and provides direct access for producers to the global market. The event attracts more than 2 600 exhibitors and over 63 000 visitors from 140 countries. The event is a platform for exporters of fruit and vegetables to identify trends and innovations in every sector of the fresh produce business, showcase their produce and identify suppliers of packaging solutions, among others. ZimTrade will continue facilitating more companies to participate in such events to grow the country’s exports
