Zim launches trade information portal

Zimbabwe has launched the trade information portal amid calls for exporters to utilise available information as a tool of increasing exports and creating business synergies for the growth of the local economy.
The trade information portal which is funded by the European Union (EU), is an on-line platform which provides a comprehensive, single-point access of up-to-date trade, investment, economic and regulatory information.

Addressing the business community at the launch, ZimTrade Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Stembile Pilime said the platform offers access to market intelligence, current trade news as well as ensuring companies compete in the new trading arrangement.

EU ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Philippe Van Damme said more support will be rendered to the country with a seven million euro fund approved last week under the European development which Zimbabwe will benefit from.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce Cde Mike Bimha who officially launched the portal, said the business community must capitalise on the platform to seek ways of increasing exports.

The portal will assist current and potential exporters, international business partners, public authorities, business consultants and investors to access information, which is key in making informed business decisions.
