Local suppliers within the agricultural value chain are gearing up for the Agritech Zambia Expo which runs from 12-14 April 2018 in Chisamba, Zambia. ZimTrade is facilitating the participation of ten manufacturers at this event, which is a specialised international exhibition for the agricultural sector value chain.
The Expo, which is in its fifth edition, seeks to establish a marketplace for regional and international industry professionals in the agricultural sector value chain to conduct business, while learning about the latest global trends in their sector. Products on show will include agrochemicals, irrigation pipes and fittings, fertilisers and agricultural implements.
Some of the participating companies have set-up demonstration fields to showcase the efficacy of their agro -solutions. The Event is expected to bring more than 22 000 visitors and over 270 local, regional and international exhibitors. The Expo gives Zimbabwe an opportunity to increase exports of agricultural inputs and implements to Zambia and other regional players, and to build further on existing regional trade relations. This initiative is coming at a time when the regional economic diversification programmes have shifted their attention to agriculture. The agricultural sector in Zambia and other countries has experienced an accelerated commercialisation and modernisation process which makes the region a lucrative market for Zimbabwean agricultural inputs and implements.
This year’s show will be the third time that ZimTrade has facilitated the participation of Zimbabwean companies, and expectations are high that the significant success of previous years can be extended.
